Page 1 of 4 We all love chocolate.
It tastes good, makes us feel good. Theobromine, a stimulant found in
chocolate, makes us feel like we are in love. (really, our bodies have
elevated levels of it when we are in love) It contains anti-oxidants.
So why does chocolate have such a bad wrap with dentists and nutritionists?
Fat
- chocolate requires cream to make it smooth. Unfortunately, making
chocolate extra creamy in the mouth makes us extra lumpy elsewhere.
- Sugar - chocolate requires sugar to make it sweet, even dark
chocolate has some sugar in it. Sugar causes tooth decay, right?
Other dentists have said
to cut out the sweets or your teeth will rot out and fall out. I maintain
that if you are intelligent about it, you can have your chocolate, and eat it,
too. To understand how, let's first look at how tooth decay works.
